Carol was born and raised in Poughkeepsie, NY. After 8 years of working at the Saw Mill Club in Mount Kisco, NY, she is coming back to her roots. After 40 years teaching and 53 years playing this incredible sport, giving back to the community and helping other people is what it’s all about for her. She started played here as a kid, and Carol has seen a lot of changes over the years here at the club. She was taught here during the Americana days as well as the time it was Sport & Wellness, so some of you might remember her! Carol is so happy to have connected with Simon and found this opportunity at TSR. It means a lot to her to be part of a club that understands that how significant tennis can be in the bigger picture in one’s life. She feels that, although tennis can be a difficult sport to learn, TSR has an incredible teaching system that makes it fun but also gets you rallying right away. Carol likes that the programs at TSR allow a person to pick and choose the aspects of tennis that best suit their personality. Whether you are younger or older, whether you want instruction or a workout, whether you want to play as an individual or on a team… TSR has something perfect for you!
At 11 years old, she was watching her mom take a tennis lesson. After the lesson, the pro asked if she wanted to hit, and she thought it looked like fun. Once they played for a while, he told to her mom that she had a lot of potential. He invited her to play a mixed doubles tournament in Pawling, NY a few months later. He was confident that they would win and that she would be hooked. Since then, her love of the game has just kept growing. Carol said that the more she knows, the more there is to learn.
She considers her husband to be her hero. Carol said, “he has put up with me for 40 years and is my Rock of Gibraltar and is my biggest fan.” She loves spending time with her family, competing in tournaments, going antiquing, going to craft shows, and driving around with the top down in her car. As far as a favorite movie, Carol says she loves the entire Star War series. It is fast-paced, mindless, and shows good triumphing over evil.
She is very excited to join the team here at Taconic Sport & Racquet. Carol says that at TSR, she has found a home that “embraces tennis as a life-changing business and uses tennis and other activities as the vehicle for change and to better oneself”.
