The goal of these Skills Reports is to communicate as much as possible with the parents. We will provide feedback as to where your child is as a tennis player at a particular point in time, how he/she is progressing through the season, and to inform you of the skill sets needed to reach their full potential.
Tennis is not an easy game to master. As with any activity, practice is important. The more time a player can spend on the court, the faster the results will come.
Simon Gale and Taconic Sport and Racquet is a national leader in junior tennis instruction and in understanding the skill sets and competencies needed at various ages and experience levels. These Skill Reports will help form the cornerstone of our program, and help guide your child through the “pathway” of a tennis player. We will be sending up to two reports during the season to keep you informed.
“Graduating” to the next level should never be about how quickly a child can get there, or how other kids are doing in their class or surrounding classes, but rather how effective each student is when it comes to learning on their own. It is not a race to the next ball color or class level, but a progressive journey of becoming the best tennis player that each child can be. Having these Skills Reports for each level will target specific things each child does well, and also which areas they can improve on to advance. This report is a snapshot of a point in time, and there is still room for improvement throughout the rest of the season.
Leaders in childhood develop from the US Tennis Association have reviewed these reports and verified that these reports provide an accurate representation of what a child should be doing at each of the specific levels.
The Skills Reports enclosed are broken down into five specific areas pertinent for progression that your child has been working on throughout the season.
- Sending & Receiving
- Footwork & Movement
- Mind & Body
- Serve & Score
- Playing Opportunities
