Taconic Sports & Racquet is a family owned and operated facility in Dutchess County. In August 2014, the Lois Family purchased the property. Their love of tennis could not allow such a great tennis club to be purchased by a developer and used for another purpose.
In June 2015, the Lois Family brought in Simon Gale as a partner. Gale is a local Dutchess County resident and a highly-respected Tennis Professional in USA tennis circles. Together, they started Taconic Sport & Racquet. Their vision was to create a family-friendly environment, where everyone can come together and enjoy racquet sports like tennis & pickleball, that you can play for a lifetime.
Some of the Lois Family have been members at Taconic for over ten years. They have the first-hand experience of being a member through all the different owners and managers. Their love of tennis, and the friends they made at Taconic, made it impossible for them not to take action when the facility went up for public auction in 2014. The thought of losing their home tennis club and the tennis family they played with was not a reality they wanted to see. With collective business experience in real estate improvement, engineering, marketing, and finance, along with a love for sports, fitness, and tennis, the venture was a natural fit for this family team. Being at the club for so many years, they saw the potential and knew what needed to be done to build a great facility. The club needed some TLC and the commitment of true tennis lovers. That, combined with the group’s experience, was an excellent fit.
Dale and Robin Lois, along with their children Alyssa and Derek, can be seen at the club playing tennis on a regular basis. Outside of the club, Dale is an attorney doing business both locally and in Connecticut. Robin is an accountant and property manager for Lois Management. Robin is also on site at the club as Controller and Facility Manager, continuing to oversee the improvements underway at the facility.
Glenn and Wendy Lois can also be seen around the club playing tennis and doing their part to help make the facility better and better. Outside of the club, they spend most of their time running their family business, Durants Party Rentals. You will see some of their awesome inflatables and rental equipment around the club.
