Braden Baker has a passion for coaching. He has extensive experience training tennis athletes by analyzing their performances, offering instruction and providing encouragement. Since 2018 and currently, Braden holds the Assistant Coach position at Marist College, a Division One school. Coaching both the Men’s and Women’s teams, he supervises matches, manages team practices, and oversees athletic conditioning.
Braden has spent years cultivating his coaching skills. Spending four years in the starting lineup for the tennis team at Southwestern College, he was awarded National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (IASA) Scholar Athlete recognition in 2016 and 2017. In 2015, 2016 and 2017 he was awarded the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference (KCAC) Scholar Athlete recognition. In 2017 he was awarded the Coach’s Choice Award and in 2013 named Southwestern College Tennis Team’s Most Valuable Player.
Leadership skills are an important part of coaching. Braden is a true leader and takes great pride in motivating teams and players to success. As Team Captain at Southwestern, Braden was awarded the ITS/Arthur Ashe Leadership & Sportsmanship Award. After college, Braden went on to serve as the Assistant Director at Nike Tennis Camps. With aspirations of coaching college teams, he served as a volunteer Assistant Coach for the Women’s West Point Tennis Team until 2018 when he secured the Assistant Coach position with Marist College.
